Scope supports the UKEGS Video Competition 2026

Scope is proud to continue supporting the UKEGS Video Competition for 2026, an educational initiative that celebrates practical learning, clinical creativity and shared expertise across the glaucoma community. The competition invites UKEGS members to submit short, narrated videos on any topic related to glaucoma. This could include a surgical technique, an interesting patient case, a service improvement project or a patient education initiative. The aim is to highlight work that can spark discussion, support professional learning and contribute to better care for people living with, or at risk of, glaucoma.

The 2026 UKEGS Conference will take place in Manchester on 10–11 November 2026 at the Royal Northern College of Music. The event is aimed at the glaucoma ophthalmology, optometry and research communities, and offers an excellent opportunity to network, share research and hear from leading voices in glaucoma care.

Selected video entrants may be invited to present their work at the conference following review by the UKEGS committee. Video submissions must be received by midnight on 30 September 2026.

Who Can Apply?

Submissions are open exclusively to UKEGS members. UKEGS is a non-profit national scientific society, part of Glaucoma UK, which promotes knowledge exchange, research and collaboration among glaucoma specialists and professionals involved in glaucoma care across the UK and Éire. What type of video can be submitted ?

The video can be on any topic related to glaucoma and could include:

• A surgical video
• A video presenting a patient case
• A video on a patient education project

By submitting your video, you or an associate presenter agree to be available at the conference in person if the work is selected. 

• Videos must include a voice over or the presenter must speak over the video during the presentation.
• The video should be produced in one of these formats; mp4, MOV, WMV or WMA.
• The video should be a maximum of 3 minutes in length.

How will the videos be judged ?

The videos will be judged by the UKEGS committee.  If your video is selected, you will be invited to present it on the afternoon of 10th or 11th of November and to answer questions from the audience.

Videos will be judged on the following criteria:

• Clarity
• Subject relevance and importance to those most affected by glaucoma
• Potential future impact on raising awareness, enabling earlier diagnosis or ensuring equitable access to effective care.

How can you submit a video ?

An UKEGS entry form must be included with every video submission.  To access the entry form please email UKEGS@Glaucoma.uk with ‘video’ in the subject line

All video submissions must be received by midnight on 30 September 2026.
